Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Duhks have taken the acoustic music circuit by storm over the past decade with a fresh, unique and distinctive fusion of traditional and progressive bluegrass, Celtic music, North American folk, old-time country, soul, blues, gospel and lots more—the band has been called a “one-band music festival.” Founded by clawhammer banjo player Leonard Podolak, the band includes Tania Elizabeth (fiddle), Jordan McConnell (guitar) and the band’s newest members, French-Canadian siblings Sarah Dugas (lead vocals) and Christian Dugas (drums). The band, which is also known for its environmental activism, has played most of the major North American music festivals, including Merlefest, Bonnaroo, Strawberry and Telluride. Fast Paced World is the most recent of the Duhk’s four critically acclaimed albums. The band’s second album, The Duhks, won a Juno Award (the Canadian Grammy) for Best Roots & Traditional Album by a Group. The Duhks also have a cut on the Grammy-winning tribute to Stephen Foster, Beautiful Dreamer.
