The Juno Award-winning French-Canadian
quartet Le
Vent du Nord (The North Wind)—with
its unusual instrumental front line of hurdy-gurdy,
accordion and fiddle and vocals in French—has
a world music sound all its own. The band plays traditional
Québécois dance music with influences
from both Ireland and Brittany, helping to preserve
the fascinating music and dance traditions of the French-Canadian
people of Quebec, each concert “a high-octane
joy ride from beginning to end” (FolkWorld).
